This is a significant advance over 5G, which provides a tenfold increase in network capacity. In China Mobile tests, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra smartphone showed a download speed of 5 Gbps.

However, the benefits of 5.5G are not just limited to speed. It also promises significant reductions in latency (the time required to transfer data), improved connection scalability to handle more devices, and improved energy efficiency.

Currently, 5.5G technology is only being tested in select Chinese cities on phones like Xiaomi 14 Ultra, vivo X100 Pro, and OPPO Find X7, and it may take some time for widespread adoption.
