The founder of Positive Technologies (holding company of Positive Group), Yuri Maksimov, became the third Russian millionaire to make his fortune with the software, Forbes reports.

Share Positive Group, which specializes in software development, has been growing on the Moscow Stock Exchange since the beginning of 2024. Thus, shares of the Positive Group holding increased by 43%, up to 2,910 rubles per share as of April 1.
With this jump, the value of founder Yuri Maksimov’s stake of 34.2 million shares reached $1.08 billion (at the Central Bank exchange rate).
Yuri Maksimov became the third Russian businessman who was able to become a dollar billionaire by earning capital from software.
At the end of last month it became known that the chairman of the company’s board of directors, Denis Frolov, became a billionaire thanks to the increase in the value of the Astra group’s shares. So far, only one software entrepreneur has achieved billionaire status. This is the founder of Kaspersky Lab, Evgeny Kaspersky.
Yuri Maksimov, together with Dmitry Maksimov and Evgeniy Kireev, launched Positive Technologies in 2002. The company began to develop with sales of the XSpider vulnerability scanner. Positive Technologies’ clients include large Russian banks and government agencies, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Since 2021, Positive Technologies has been under US sanctions due to Washington’s suspicions of connections to Russian intelligence services.
At the end of 2023, the holding increased its profits by 70%, amounting to 8.5 billion rubles.
