Türkiye is expanding the list of documents to extend a temporary residence permit. Starting May 15, foreign citizens will be required to obtain a UETS address. Previously, the Turkish authorities managed to resolve the difficulties with opening a bank account, necessary to renew the residence permit.

The Turkish authorities have once again complicated the conditions for the extension of the residence permit.

Starting April 15, all foreigners who want to stay legally in the country and apply for renewal of their residence permit must also provide a UETS (national electronic notification system) address. This is stated in the message from the Migration Affairs Office of the Turkish Ministry of the Interior.

“In accordance with the Notification Law No. 7201 and the Electronic Notification Regulation No. 30617, the National Electronic Notification System (UETS) was created for the sending and delivery of notifications to individuals,” the statement states.

To obtain the UETS, you must apply at the Post Office. There you must present your passport, a valid residence permit and indicate your email and telephone number. Remote submission of an application is also available on the website etebligat.gov.tr., if the applicant has an electronic signature.

Previously, the Turkish authorities decided to increase the threshold of the value of real estate, the purchase of which allows investors to obtain a residence permit up to 200 thousand dollars.

At the same time, at the end of March, the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced that it had reached an agreement with local banks and migration departments to help foreigners open bank accounts. This account is required when renewing a residence permit.
