“Finland will keep its border with Russia closed until further notice,” Bloomberg quoted the country’s Interior Minister Marie Rantanen as saying.

As noted earlier in Helsinki, the situation for migrants on the Finnish-Russian border has recently worsened. The Finnish Ministry of the Interior proposed an indefinite border closure at the beginning of the month.

For the first time, restrictions at checkpoints began to take effect at the initiative of the Finnish side in November 2023.
