Yandex has developed a personal recommendation technology for Maps that will select places in the city for users based on their route history, business searches, reviews and preferences of people with similar interests. This is indicated in the Yandex message.

The new mode started working in the Yandex Maps mobile application called “Ideas”. It is located on the main screen and provides users with personalized recommendations in different formats.
In the foreground in “Ideas” is a map of the city, highlighting areas with places that the user might like. The brighter the highlighted area, the more recommendations there will be.
Now bars, cafes and restaurants are shown, later beauty salons, parks, museums and other places will also be added.
The developers also plan to train the Maps algorithm to select places, taking into account the events that take place there. It should be noted that such recommendations may also include affiliate content.
Each place on the map has a photo and title created by YandexGPT. The title explains why the user might like the establishment. Recommendations can also be viewed in the form of a story, in the “Stream” section.
Now the new mode shows recommendations for Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Novosibirsk. They plan to expand the list of cities.
