The Ministry of the Interior warns against installing fake Tinkoff and VTB applications from the App Store. The Department of Organization of Combating Illegal Use of Information and Communications Technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia notes that attackers want to embellish the data of Russians.

The management report indicated that the applications aim to embellish personal information.
“Both applications have inflated ratings and use the banks’ corporate colors. But they have nothing to do with VTB and Tinkoff Bank. There are no applications from these banks in the App Store,” says a message on the management’s Telegram channel.
The department recalled that these credit institutions do not have applications in the App Store.
The mobile banks of large Russian credit institutions were removed from the App Store in 2022 after the entry of troops into Ukraine.
The day before, April 9, 2024, a Tinkoff application called “T-Help” appeared in the App Store. The bank confirmed this fact. However, the app was removed a few hours later.
