The rumors come from The Elec. They claim that Apple will use an updated OLED display with LTPO TFT (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide thin-film transistor) technology.

Currently, Apple uses LTPO for only a small portion of its displays. So now it will be added to Series 10, which will make the screen much more energy efficient. This will lead to lower power consumption and hopefully a noticeable increase in battery life.

It’s important to temper your expectations a bit. While new display technology looks promising, there’s always the possibility that other factors (such as more powerful specs) could negatively impact its effectiveness.
