Apple will lock parts in stolen iPhones so they can’t be reused.
The new feature is part of Activation Lock, which locks your iPhone and requires your Apple ID password to unlock it. But if earlier it was possible to sell an iPhone for spare parts, now such a smartphone will be useless.
When installing original used parts, the iPhone will automatically check their originality. And if, as a result, the spare part was obtained from a stolen iPhone, then the connection will not be completed and the performance of the part will be limited.
This feature will launch in fall 2024 and will initially only be available on iPhone 15. [Apple]
