A video comparison of the MacBook Pro with the M2 and M1 processor was released on the Max Tech channel. During the tests, Apple installed a slow SSD in the new model.

The SSD was tested using the Blackmagic Disk Speed Test app. Possible results are:

▪️ 13″ MacBook Pro (M1/256GB) read speed: 2900
▪️ 13″ MacBook Pro (M2/256GB) read speed: 1446
▪️ 13″ MacBook Pro (M1/256GB) write speed: 2215
▪️ 13″ MacBook Pro (M2/256GB) write speed: 1463

these results are likely covered by the fact that only one 256 GB memory module is installed in the MacBook Pro with the M2. The MacBook Pro with M1 uses two NAND modules of 128 GB each. When assembling multiple NAND modules, a high overall memory speed is observed.

Presumably, this disappearance only affected the base model of the MacBook Pro with M2. MacRumors tested models with 512 GB of memory and the result is almost the same as the MacBook Pro with M1.
