YouTuber Marques Brownlee looked at the new one Pin AI by Humane and called it “the worst product I’ve ever reviewed.” However, he also had some positive words to say about it.
For those who don’t know, the Humane AI Pin looks like a strapless Apple Watch that you can wear on your shirt. It uses artificial intelligence and is expected to one day replace your smartphone. But it does not have a screen as such, since most of the interaction is carried out by voice and occurs through an interface projected onto the palm.
The tiny device was unveiled in 2023 and unveiled last week as an artificial intelligence assistant that is always with you. But tech reviewers have criticized it for being “too simple and not that useful” and simply not working as well as promised. In an article that analyzed all the hands-on reviews of the Human AI Pin, Tom’s Guide included the words “it’s a disaster” in the headline.
Then on Sunday, Brownlee, known on YouTube as MKBHD, shared his thoughts on the device after using it last week. And that’s not good.
Without further ado, the popular YouTuber stated that AI Pin is “too difficult to use” and that it is “bad at almost everything it does.” Responses to voice queries are often slow and sometimes incorrect, as generative AI chatbot technology still has work to do, he said.
Battery life also leaves much to be desired: with intensive use, the device only lasts a few hours. Photos taken with AI Pin “look pretty bad,” the tech specialist commented, and videos “look even worse.” Brownlee added that the projector was not bright enough, making it difficult to see the text written on a hand outdoors. Oh, and it only projects text and images in green. Watch the video to find out All what can you say about AI Pin.
On the other hand, Brownlee liked the ease with which quick voice notes can be saved while, say, driving, as well as how they can be used for POV videos, although the quality is quite poor at the moment. He added: “As a brand new product and a team trying to do something new, I respect that, I respect that attempt.”
But he concluded by saying that AI Pin “has a long way to go” before it can be used properly and said to “never buy a product based on future promises of product updates.”
