Rostelecom wants to create its own digital assistant by 2030. Sergei Nosov, who manages data at the company, talked about this at a conference gathering major software and hardware customers.

He explained that it is not yet clear in which field this assistant will be used. “We are currently investigating what artificial neural networks are available on the market and based on that we choose where they can be applied,” he added.

The company is considering three directions for creating an assistant. The first is classic IT development. The second is to work with design and texts. Third, automation of routine operations.

Rostelecom does not plan to reduce the number of IT specialists due to the introduction of artificial intelligence. “There are so many shortages of IT specialists in the market that I think it is too early to talk about layoffs. Therefore, I do not see any point in this for now,” Nosov emphasized.

He also noted that salaries for IT specialists are “growing strongly” due to the lack of specialists in the market. Before talking about staff reduction or optimization, it is necessary to balance supply and demand in the market.
