Japan is known as the country that provides the largest subsidies to the semiconductor industry and the development of artificial intelligence technologies – even more than the United States. And for several years, Japan, in cooperation with Nvidia, has been developing a quantum computing system for which the American company provides graphics processors. But now it’s about providing ABCI-Q with custom application software for quantum computing via a cloud platform.
Nvidia collaborates on quantum computing with research labs in Germany and the UK, but broader software collaborations are rare.
Quantum computers are also perfect for pharmaceutical research and logistics optimization, as well as many other fields. Although quantum computers can solve problems that are too complex for traditional computers, such machines are prone to errors with even small changes in the environment.
Therefore, combining them with a supercomputer solves this problem, making the system more suitable for complex data processing. And that’s exactly what application software is needed for.
