Russia has proposed creating a registry of imported video games. The measure will strengthen the fight against counterfeiting. The idea belongs to the Russian Association of Video Game Distributors and Importers (“RADI Video Games”), Kommersant learned.

The list will include all distributors, game titles “approved mainly in terms of content”, one of the publication’s interlocutors knows.
According to a Kommersant source in the media market, the registration will eliminate gray importers who do not pay customs duties and VAT. Difficulties may arise when implementing the initiative: the supply of games on physical media is controlled by Rospotrebnadzor, and in digital format by Roskomnadzor, it is impossible to combine digital and physical media in a single record;
The Russian Association of Video Game Distributors and Importers appeared in 2023. Its goal is to support the legal import and sale of video games, organize correct communication about them, and inform consumers about content and physical limitations. Members include DNS; diCasa; “Buka”; “MC”; Playground; “Pyramid”; Game purchase; “Omegagame”; “Achievement.”
