To commemorate the occasion, the source codes of many CD Projekt Red games, including The Witcher 3, Gwent and Cyberpunk 2077, were made public.
An archive containing data allegedly stolen from Cisco during last year’s attack was also released.
Developers began compiling The Witcher 3 from the leaked code and began sharing screenshots and videos of early builds of the game. In total, the data stolen from CD Projekt Red takes up approximately 450 GB and contains source codes not only for the games but also for various SDKs for the consoles.
Let’s remember that the HelloKitty group caused havoc in 2021 by attacking CD Projekt Red and stealing game source codes. The hackers then claimed to have sold the data on dubious sites. The group’s attacks were meticulous; The attackers encrypted the victims’ data and demanded a large ransom.
In 2022, HelloKitty’s connection to another ransomware outfit, Yanluowang, was revealed, indicating close collaboration between hackers.
