Apple’s M3 processor debuted in the MacBook Pro and iMac in fall 2023, and also appeared in the MacBook Air earlier this year. The chip is still in the active implementation phase.
An updated and more powerful version of M3 will be used in desktop Mac Studio, which is likely to be released in the middle of the year.
But the M4 is already on the horizon. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Mac mini development has been put on hold until a new chip is released. Mac mini with M4 is planned to be released in late 2024 or early 2025.
According to Gurman, the time frame for the release of the M3 version is very limited, and as a result, the Mac mini with M2 will remain on store shelves for a while longer.
