It now costs $8,000 in the US instead of the previous $12,000. In Canada, the price dropped from 16,000 Canadian dollars to 11,000 Canadian dollars.
Additionally, Tesla has eliminated the $6,000 Advanced Autopilot option. Owners who have already paid for this package can now upgrade to FSD for just $2,000.
Tesla recently implemented a major price cut, dropping the cost of most models by $2,000. And a few weeks ago the price of the FSD subscription was cut in half, to $99 per month.
It’s worth noting that all current prices are well below the record $15,000 FSD sold for at the end of 2022.
Elon Musk, Tesla’s chairman, has repeatedly stated that as FSD develops, its price will increase to reflect the increase in value.
But the latest price cut likely has less to do with the system’s capabilities and more to do with the company’s desire to boost revenue during tough times.
Tesla faced falling sales and had to lay off some employees. A lower price can encourage owners to purchase software that has previously increased in price, generating additional revenue for the company.
