Even if a buyer is found, question marks will remain. The basis for TikTok’s success is its algorithm, which ByteDance controls and may not be part of the sale due to China’s export restrictions. Additionally, the enormous cost of implementation only makes it an attractive target for tech giants, which could raise antitrust concerns.
