Foreign journalists received the hype AI gadget Rabbit R1 for their use. He can manage any mobile applications himself.

Overall, it received much better reviews and impressions than Humane AI Pin, which turned out to be a stupid and disastrous product.

Let’s find out what they are saying about the new product.

1. Shortcut

One of the first attempts to access the unusual device was made by journalists from The Shortcut. Below are the main excerpts from their text.

Research and book a trip. Right now I can ask Rabbit R1 what attractions to see during the trip. This summer I visited his office with a detailed itinerary and asked additional questions.

Call a specific Uber taxi. You can request a car with a simple statement: “I want space for six passengers and three bags in the luggage.” R1 itself suggests and books UberXL from your location to your desired destination.

Order food that everyone likes. Yes, you can order food from the app, but I can understand what’s popular on the menu. Ask Rabbit R1 to order “a popular Pizza Hut menu option.” He will select all the requests and order delivery.

What can I cook? If you have a bunch of ingredients in the refrigerator, take a photo with the built-in camera and ask R1 to place the dish. He offers some simple cooking options based on what’s visible.

In addition, the device can identify the actor from the film, show data about him and his character in the film, and much more.

2. Edge

The Verge also did not leave anything unnoticed.

The gadget has a 2.88-inch display, runs on a 2.3 GHz MediaTek MT6765 processor, has 128 GB of internal memory and 4 GB of RAM. It has a speaker on the back, two microphones on the top, and a SIM card slot on the back to the right of the USB-C charging port.

Spent a few hours playing with a friend and I have to say: it’s quite enjoyable. It’s not flashy or high-end, just silly and fun. Where the humane AI Pin sounds like a gem, the R1 sounds like an old-school MP3 player crossed with a spinner.

There are currently only four services available: Spotify, Uber, DoorDash and Midjourney. Almost immediately I started running into things that the R1 simply couldn’t do. He can’t leave emails or make spreadsheets.

I connected the R1 to my Spotify account and searched for “Beyoncé’s new album,” and the device found “Crazy in Love.” However, when I said “Play The 1975,” the device did it instantly (by the way, the speaker here is simply terrible – use a Bluetooth speaker).

The R1 Vision feature, which uses the camera to identify things in the scene around you, seems to work fine if all you want is a list of objects. The gadget cannot take photos or videos.

When you’re not doing anything, the time appears on the screen and the bunny head logo jumps. When you connect the side button, the indication goes out and the rabbit’s ears go up as if he is listening. It’s very charming!

There’s still a lot that R1 can’t do, and there’s a lot left for me to test.

I’m particularly interested in how it operates on battery power, its ability to deal with poor connections, heating up over time, and how it handles more complex tasks than simply searching for information and ordering chicken nuggets.
