Yandex plans to separate its calendar into a separate application and turn it into a “complete task scheduler.” Kommersant discovered on the company’s website two vacancies for iOS and Android developers in the Calendar+ project, which has not yet been launched.

The job posting indicates that Calendar+ will be built first as a software development kit (SDK). This approach can be successful if a company intends to launch several applications with an integrated calendar at once.
Experts believe that Yandex will add neural network functions to the calendar; the Mail.ru service, owned by VK, is already starting to implement them. By separating calendar from email and other services, the company will create another entry point into its ecosystem, but the app will find it difficult to compete with those already on the market.
In addition, when introducing neural networks into planning tools, it is necessary to ensure the protection of data on meetings and personal schedules, experts noted.
