TSMC announced plans to launch production of chips with a 1.6 nm process technology in 2026.
We are currently creating the TSMC 3 nm process technology. Reducing this indicator will allow you to connect more transistors to the chip.
According to the company’s calculations, 1.6 nm chips will be 8-10% faster and 15-20% more energy efficient than 2 nm processors, which TSMC will begin producing in 2025.
TSMC did not say which companies were the first to gain access to the 1.6 nm process technology. Most likely, it will be Apple, which is TSMC’s main client and always uses new technologies from the plant.
