The update will be full of features that use artificial intelligence, which will require support for certain processor instructions.

It was initially assumed that only PopCnt instruction support was required, but recent code changes indicate that SSE4.2 has been included as a required instruction.

Older processors that do not have these instructions will not be able to boot Windows 11 24H2, even if using workarounds that work on the current version of the system.

One of the AI-heavy features expected in Windows 11 is AI File Explorer, also known as Advanced Co-Pilot. This is an updated, modern version of the Cortana app that was discontinued last August.

Twitter user Albacore discovered a piece of code responsible for displaying warnings on non-compliant systems. This will be similar to the existing PopCnt not supported message or system requirements watermark.
