Google previously stated in a blog post that the address bar uses “manual, pre-configured formulas” for suggestions. The problem was that these formulas were inflexible and could not adapt to new situations.
Google promises that now, thanks to machine learning, Chrome can “collect new data, retrain models, evaluate their effectiveness, and apply new versions.”
This is a significant change because… the old formulas remained virtually untouched for years.
When choosing tips, the AI will take into account several factors, including the time since you last visited a particular site. For example, if you just closed a tab on a page, the relevance of the pattern will decrease because you have most likely already found it.
