Google’s artificial intelligence (AI) Gemini has arrived in Brazil, largely in Portuguese. Starting this Tuesday (30), Brazilians will be able to benefit from an enhanced experience as well as integration with popular services such as Gmail, Search and YouTube. However, Google Assistant will be discontinued.

Portuguese Gemini app initially available on Android devices. With this update, Brazilian users will be able to interact with text commands, voice, and even by sending images directly from their mobile devices.

Jules Walter, Gemini’s global product manager, emphasizes the importance of this advancement: “This is an important first step in creating a true AI assistant that is conversational, multi-modal and useful.”

Integration with virtual assistants

Android users can access Gemini via Google Assistant. To start a conversation with the AI ​​assistant, simply press the power button, swipe from the corner of the screen (on select devices), or say “Hey Google.”

This integration provides quick and easy access to Gemini functions, including Assistant voice features like setting timers, making calls, and controlling smart home devices.

The good news for iOS users is that Gemini will soon be available directly in the Google app, but no date has been set yet.

New features

Another big new feature is the time-saving Gemini extensions. Find relevant information from apps like Gmail, Search, Google Flights, and YouTube.

For example, you can plan an entire trip in a single conversation with Gemini, which can take into account dates in Gmail, look up flight and hotel information, and even find useful videos on YouTube.

Finally, access to Gemini in the Chrome browser has also been made easier. Just type “@gemini” in the address bar and then type the command you want. To start a conversation with the AI ​​assistant directly in the browser.

Gemini has been downloaded more than 500,000 times on the Play Store since it became an app. With Brazil, the app is now available in nine languages ​​(Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish and Portuguese) in 73 countries on 5 different continents.
