The company’s analysts analyzed sales of more than 100 categories of everyday products in 60 online stores and markets, including Ozon, Vprok.ru, Lenta, Metro, Globus, Magnit, Megamarket and Yandex Market.

“From the point of view of consumer perception, this year the online market managed for the first time to move from the “repertoire” channels to the group of the main ones for making purchases: that is, instead of “repurchasing” certain everyday goods , consumers We are moving to placing regular orders over the Internet,” said Saltanat Nysanova, director of client work at Nielsen, whose words are quoted in the message.

According to the expert, this is due to the convenience of the online channel: buyers prefer to place orders online due to time savings, the possibility of making purchases without leaving home, lower prices and the delivery of large and heavy packages.

The online market maintained its title as the fastest growing channel during the analyzed period. It grew by 45.5% in monetary terms and 51.8% in physical terms. At the same time, all consumer goods groups recorded double-digit sales growth.

Most notably, the online marketplace is gaining importance for non-food consumer goods categories (cleaning, laundry, personal care products and others): a year ago, the share of online sales of non-food products was 20%, and at the end of the 1st quarter of 2024 it was approaching almost 30% in monetary terms.
