Renault supplier demands Moskvich plant declared bankrupt

As RBC explains with reference to the case material, Silver Basis’ claim is related to the fact that in 2020 the Hong Kong company signed an agreement with Renault Russia (the plant was renamed MAZ Moskvich in June 2022) for the development and supply of equipment for the manufacture of Renault automobiles.

According to Silver Basis, the equipment was delivered in January 2022 and the final operating certificate was signed in March, but due to Renault’s departure from Russia, the project was canceled and the supplier received only 383 thousand euros instead of 2,866 million. of euros. .

And in August last year, the creditor filed a lawsuit against Moskvich as the legal successor of Renault Russia. The Moscow Arbitration Court upheld the claim and sentenced the Moscow plant to pay 2.475 million euros in debt and 124 thousand euros in fines.

Moskvich explained to the publication that the dispute concerns the period of French Renault’s activity in Russia and that Silver Basis did not prove the supply of equipment. The company achieved a suspension of debt collection until the appeal was resolved.

The plant’s press service stated that the demand to declare the company bankrupt is “manipulation of public opinion.” At the same time, Moskvich has a stable financial situation and there are no reasons for its bankruptcy.
