The President of the Russian Government, Mikhail Mishustin, at a meeting in the State Duma, drew attention to the opacity of the functioning of Russian markets. According to the Prime Minister, the work of the platforms must be “carefully regulated.”

Mishustin explained that the work of markets, unlike offline stores, is not sufficiently regulated by law, so users have questions about frequent changes to the contract, fees for returning goods and various seller restrictions.
“Here it is very important that we analyze together how to carefully regulate this, absolutely sharing your concerns,” said the head of government.
The Prime Minister recalled that to regulate the functioning of markets, the fifth antitrust package was adopted last year, which gave the Federal Antimonopoly Service powers to prevent e-commerce leaders from abusing their dominant position in the market.
Previously, the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shadayev, said that the Ministry of Digital Development and the Ministry of Economic Development are developing a new law to regulate the work of markets.
