The browser for Aurora OS 4, currently installed on devices, is based on the Gecko engine. The developers of the Firefox browser, which is also used there, are working on it, writes Kommersant.
Dmitry Altukhov, advisor to the director of the Internet Initiatives Development Fund, claims that it is impossible to create most web versions of applications for Russian programs based on Firefox, since they are not adapted to this format.
According to experts’ estimates, the cost of a project based on Chromium will be 15-20 million rubles, the work will last about six months and will require 10-20 specialists.
