These vehicles compete with OpenAI’s Sora and Dall-E 3 models. Google says Veo has “advanced understanding of natural language and visual semantics” to enable text-based video creation.

Veo can produce videos longer than a minute and understands techniques like time-lapse. In the trailer, Donald Glover and his studio Gilga show how text is used to create a video of a convertible and a sailboat. Veo has improved physics simulation and video quality.

Veo will be available in Google’s VideoFX tool and will appear in YouTube Shorts.
