WhatsApp Community admins will soon have another useful function: creating secret groups. The tool, available in the experimental version of Messenger, will allow you to add conversations privately so that only guests can see them.
Latest news discovered by the website WABetaInfo, is in the new interface icon used to define hidden groups. A secret chat will have a dashed eye icon with a line next to its title, indicating limited viewing.
This approach will help distinguish secret chats from others and allow admins and members to quickly identify these groups.
In addition to having a unique icon, secret groups will be displayed differently on the information screen: WhatsApp will show which community a secret conversation belongs to in the “Group information” section.
As predicted in the previous experimental update, secret WhatsApp groups should be a new chat type for Communities. Even though they are in the “group”, these conversations will only be listed on the mobile phones of administrators and invited members.
The idea is to allow administrators to have more dialogue options within a community. The secret chat will have the same options and features as a regular chat and may optionally include the activation of seasonal messages and voice and video calls, for example.
In development
For now, testers do not have the ability to create secret groups. The function is still under development and there is no estimate for a definitive launch.
However, considering that feature-related additions appear frequently, it is possible that it will not take too long for the function to be activated in the test program. From now on, it’s only a matter of time before the public reaches this.
