This approach allows ChromeOS to be used alongside Android on the same device, as demonstrated at a special event using a custom version of Chromium OS called “ferrochrome.”

The new AVF feature, first introduced in Android 13, provides a secure and isolated environment for code execution.

This opened the door to virtual execution of not only standard Android applications, but also full-fledged operating systems.

The demo involved using the Pixel 8 to mirror Chromium OS to an external display, thanks to the display feature newly added to Pixel smartphones.

According to developers, using ChromeOS in parallel with Android can significantly expand the possibilities of using a smartphone, especially for professional and corporate users.

However, Google has not yet announced plans for mass implementation of this technology in the near future.
