In January 2024, Noland Arbaugh became the first patient to receive a brain implant from Neuralinkneurotechnology company founded Elon Musk. Known as the Link, the device contains over 1,000 electrodes and is designed to allow paralyzed patients to control external technology with their thoughts.

Initially, Arbo, who was left paralyzed after a diving accident, was able to perform tasks such as surfing the Internet, playing video games and using his laptop with the implant.

And now, through a message on X, Musk said that they were looking for a second volunteer patient.

“Neuralink is accepting applications for a second participant,” Elon Musk tweeted on Friday. “This is our cybernetic brain implant ‘Telepathy’ that allows you to control your phone and computer just by thinking.”

It takes pioneers to redefine the boundaries of human possibility.
