As part of the partnership, OpenAI will use content from the social network to train its chatbot.

Under the agreement, the developer will use Reddit’s data API to access data from its AI tools. And the social network, for its part, will offer AI options based on OpenAI to users and moderators.

In March 2024, Reddit held an initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange. The amount of funds raised amounted to $748 million, and the company is valued at $6.4 billion.

The platform’s quarterly revenue grew 48%, while its net loss increased 9-fold, primarily due to one-time expenses associated with the IPO.

Late last year, OpenAI announced a partnership with Europe’s largest media holding company, Axel Springer. This will give the ChatGPT chatbot access to media published by the publisher, in particular Politico, Bild, Business Insider, Welt and others.

At the same time, other media outlets objected to the company’s use of their content to train robots. So in early 2024, The New York Times filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and Micrpsoft.
