As RIA Novosti previously wrote, in June 2023 the company employed 28 thousand drivers. However, the devices are not assigned to specific employees and are only required for those who directly verify tickets and documents upon boarding.

Therefore, to completely transfer employees to devices with the Russian operating system, a total of 16 thousand devices are needed. The company did not specify which devices were being purchased. Russian Railways also did not disclose the amount of the purchase.

According to a Vedomosti source familiar with the conditions of the purchase, the lion’s share fell on smartphones from the Fplus holding. The company confirmed that the Federal Passenger Company does indeed purchase R570E devices with the Aurora operating system, which are produced in the Russian Federation.

The device has increased security: it works in a wide temperature range, is waterproof, and is also equipped with a shockproof case.

As Fplus clarified, Russian Railways was one of the first to develop an application for Aurora and already has the necessary foundation.

The retail price of the R570E with Aurora OS is 47,990 rubles. The interlocutor of the publication from one of the electronics manufacturers explained that when government customers buy in large quantities, the devices are cheaper.
