Sonos showed off its Ace wireless headphones for the first time, rumors about which have been circulating for years.
These are full-size headphones that are made of plastic that does not collect fingerprints. The ear pads are made of genuine leather and have a magnetic fastening, and the headband has a memory effect.
The Ace is much lighter than the AirPods Max: 312 g versus 385 g. This is due to the fact that the headphones use a minimum of metal.
Control is primarily done via a single physical Content Key button. It is responsible for switching tracks, adjusting the sound and switching between noise reduction modes. On the opposite side there is a power and connection button.
The headphones are equipped with 40mm speakers. Sonos promises great sound. Ace detects lossless head-tracking spatial audio over Bluetooth, but only when the audio is played on a device with a Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound chip. It is also possible to listen to lossless music via USB-C.
The Ace has 8 microphones that are used for noise cancellation settings and during calls. There is an automatic pause function if you remove the headphones while listening to music or watching a movie.
Sonos says the Aces last up to 30 hours with noise cancellation enabled. This is 10 hours more than AirPods Max. Charging is done via USB-C.
Pre-order is already open. The headphones cost $449 (~40.5 thousand rubles). Sales start on June 5. [Engadget]
