Testing of the first unmanned tram has begun in Moscow, reports the Department of Transport.
While he cannot be protested on his own, such an opportunity will appear at the end of the year, when he learns on his own and without mistakes. You can find it on route No. 10 from Kulakova Street to the Shchukinskaya metro station.
For now, the tram travels with a driver who will monitor the operation of the unmanned control system and make final decisions if necessary.
At the first stages, by the end of 2024, the tram will be available to passengers only with a backup driver. By the end of 2025, transport will become completely unmanned.
According to the city hall’s plan, by 2027 such a system will equip more than 80% of Moscow’s trams.
