Our life is unthinkable without a phone and other devices, and these, in turn, cannot function without regular recharging. To do this, we use the memory that is familiar to all of us, that each house has. Surely many at least once in life were interested in the question: is it possible to leave the memory in the socket without a phone or not? After all, sometimes it’s just so convenient to plug it into the outlet once and you’re good to go. After that, every time you need to recharge your phone, you don’t need to look for a charger at home, then plug it into the wall outlet and only then charge your phone. Okay, it’s too tiring. And if you also imagine that the socket is hidden behind the furniture, inserting the charger and pulling the cable, you will no longer have to feel inconvenienced by constantly moving the furniture to reach the socket you need. So what is the correct answer to this question? There are many opinions about it, but the correct answer is, of course, yes. In today’s article, I’m going to share with you three of the most popular memory myths out there right now. So you can independently understand this problem.
Myth #1. Increased electricity consumption
It is a mistake to assume that a charger connected only to an outlet without a phone does not consume electricity. In fact, it consumes, however, this consumption is minimal. The fact is that the memory we use to recharge the phone and other gadgets is usually pressed. Therefore, due to the peculiarities of their own circuit, electricity consumption occurs even without a phone connected to them. However, the consumption in standby mode is so minimal that you will end up with a few cents in a month. If you still decide not to turn off the charger from the outlet for a whole year, the approximate consumption will be 1/3 kilowatt. Therefore, you should not worry too much about having to pay a large electricity bill. But you will also not be able to save on the fact that you will constantly get the charger from the outlet. Therefore, you can plug in several chargers at the same time, and believe that you will not even notice the difference in the electricity bill at the end of the month. However, if you basically do not want to pay additional, albeit minimal, costs, then you need to think about how to stop forgetting to take the charger out of the outlet.

Myth #2. The charger has a limited lifespan due to continuous operation
This is one of the most popular myths, which says that the duration of memory operation is limited. It is believed that if the charger is constantly connected to the outlet, its life will be significantly reduced. And yet, there is some truth to this. The average useful life of conventional memory is 50,000 hours or 2,000 days, or about 6 years. Based on this, for 5-6 years, the memory can be connected to the mains, and in theory nothing should happen to it. But if you want to increase the life of your memory, you will have to constantly disconnect it from the mains after charging the phone. In this case, you can increase its service life by several years. But does this make any sense? After all, over the long years of using the device, it will simply lose its presentation, and with a high probability the connectors will loosen, and in general, the cost of a new device is not so high. Therefore, it is up to each one to decide if it is worth trying to extend its useful life to 10 or 15 years. I don’t see much point in this.

Myth #3. Fire danger
There are a lot of opinions on this topic. Some argue that the charger can easily catch fire or even explode. This makes sense only when your outlet is faulty. Also, there is a chance that this could happen due to a power surge or if you have fairly old electrical wiring, automatic machines are missing or malfunctioning, and the memory itself is made of low-quality materials from an unknown manufacturer. So in this case you should definitely not leave it in the outlet. However, if you have high-quality original memory, and everything is fine with its wiring, then you should not be afraid of a fire due to the memory remaining in the socket.
For example, many of us have seen modern wall plugs with built-in USB ports. Which are a hybrid of charging for the phone and a regular plug. And most importantly, the stuffing of this hybrid plug (under the cover you can see not only standard wires, but also circuits), like a real charger. And this means that this socket is nothing more than a modern wall-mounted charger, which is constantly connected to the mains. And there are no problems with the ignition on such sockets.
A good reason why you need to unplug the charger
The charger does not pose a great danger, especially if it is from a reliable manufacturer. However, there are several reasons why you should remember to turn off the charger and hide it.
One of the main reasons why you should unplug your memory and put it away is young children. You can easily protect a small child if you connect a plug to the outlet, but this cannot be done with a charger. It poses a threat to the child even if it works in a passive mode. For example, a child can easily bite into a wire, and even good insulation will not save him, and climb into the connector with a metal object, such as a knitting needle. The current at the memory output is about 2 A and the voltage is 5 volts. Therefore, to avoid even minor injuries in the future, it is recommended to hide the charger out of the reach of small children.

This rule also applies to your pets. Because cat and dog owners know that their pets love to gnaw on various wires. Therefore, it is not recommended to leave the charger plugged into the wall outlet. This can damage your memory.
I believe that each device should have a specific place in the house. You don’t leave your glasses on the floor, do you? The charger left in the socket can bring you random problems, for example, you may accidentally bump into it, and in the worst case, not only break the charger, but also pull out the plug. After that, you will not only have to repair your socket, but also buy a new device to recharge your phone. And that takes time and money. Therefore, it is recommended to find a specific place to safely store all your chargers. That is all. Thank you all for your attention.
