YouTube Music streaming service has started receiving a new feature in the platform’s Android app. innovation one B.Voice music search that finds songs based on hummed melodieswhistles or quotes from song lyrics.

With this function, the user can find the song that has been in his mind for days, without knowing its name or artist, in a few seconds, beyond a rhythmic sound sequence such as “hum” or “lalala”.

To make the call simply tap the sound wave icon next to the microphone symbol, where traditional voice searches take place. Then just hum or whistle and wait for the result.

This feature is already available on other apps and platforms

The function of finding a song by humming or whistling a part is already relatively old. Sites like Midomi and the Shazam app have been doing something similar for years, identifying melodies and words.

This research has already been available in Google Assistant since at least 2020. Moreover, YouTube also tested the same feature in its video application last year.

The addition of this feature to YouTube Music reinforces that Google now relies on the app as its main audio streaming platform, including music. Recently big tech disabled Google Podcasts to prioritize only that app natively in its ecosystem.
