Apple designer Molly Anderson gave an interview to Numerama. It was dedicated to the new iPad Pro.
When asked why the Apple logo on the back is vertical instead of horizontal, Anderson said that might change in the future.
I think this may change. We are thinking about it. The iPad has long been a product that is used in portrait mode, but more and more people are using it in landscape mode. We cannot say that this has already been decided.

Apple has long been promoting the idea of using the iPad horizontally, especially after the release of the Magic Keyboard. In the new iPad Pro, the company has moved the front camera to the other side to make it easier to use when the tablet is in a horizontal position.
