In the first quarter of 2024, banks repelled 13.9 million attempted theft of funds totaling 2 trillion rubles. This was reported by the Bank of Russia in a review.
During the reporting period, fraudsters managed to steal 4.3 billion rubles, which is 6.3% less than in the first quarter of 2023. The number of successful fraudulent transactions increased by 16.8% and amounted to 294.4 thousand.
1.9 billion rubles were stolen from individuals’ bank cards, 40% more than the previous year. The number of successful fraudulent transactions increased by 20% to 237 thousand.
In total, banks reimbursed clients 7.7% of the stolen funds, that is, 331.1 million rubles in money.
