Reputable journalist Mark Gurman from Bloomberg reported that Siri in iOS 18 for the first time allows you to control all devices in applications thanks to AI.
Examples of reported capabilities include opening specific documents, moving notes from one directory to another, deleting new emails, summarizing articles, sending links by email, and opening news site restrictions in Apple News. Apple plans to use AI to analyze what people do on their devices, automatically enabling the Siri feature.
To achieve this, Apple engineers had to redesign the core Siri software using Large Language Models (LLMs). When the new Siri feature launches, the number of company apps will be limited and Siri will only be able to work with one command at a time. There will be support for multiple commands in the future.
It is noted that new Siri features will be presented at WWDC 2024 on June 10. However, the launch in iOS 18 will happen in 2025 with the next software update.
