The Bank of Russia has announced a modernized banknote of 100 rubles.
Now on the front of the bill there is an image of the Kremlin, the Ostankino Tower, the Moscow State University building and Zaryadye Park, and on the back there is a memorial in Rzhev. The banknotes will be put into circulation in 2022.
New banknotes with varnish to increase the service life by a third, they also contain a QR code.
From interesting facts about the new 100 rubles:
• the field around the number 100 is formed by microscript inscriptions
• a stylized image of the map contains inscriptions and graphic elements, including images of a chapel, a helmet and a shield of an ancient Russian warrior, a horseshoe, a samovar, a gingerbread, ears of corn and the number 100
• The QR code on the banknote is posted on the SIBR website with information about the design and signs of freedom.
The design of all Russian banknotes is changing in the coming years. 1000 and 5000 rubles will be renewed in 2023, and 500 rubles in 2024.
