This week, the long-awaited fourth installment of the Bad Boys to End franchise was released worldwide, starring Will Smith.

This installment was directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilal Fallah, the Belgian duo who revived the previous installment of the franchise in 2020. We remind you that Michael Bay was no longer involved in the creation of the action film about two daring black police officers.

We looked at the new product and compared it with the previous lesson. Opinions were again divided, but first things first.

These are still the same “Bad Guys”, but there is a nuance

What the film is about: Miami cops Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowry learn from the news that their police captain, Conrad Howard, is accused of corruption and ties to drug cartels. Marcus and Mike can’t believe these accusations. Soon they will receive a video from Howard himself, filmed by him before his death. In the recording, he asks to find his killer and restore his good name. But it’s far from easy, because now the hunt is on for Burnetta and Lowry.

In “Bad Boys to the End,” the directors again try to bring back the chemistry and irony that made us love Maika and Marcus. But at the very beginning of the film, unexpected turns occur. While Mike became more confident and vulnerable at the start of the film, Marcus, who had suffered a heart attack, suddenly felt invulnerable. This ruins the momentum, weakening the otherwise exciting action sequences.

Instead of a black version of Lethal Weapon where one was a family man and the other a raving lunatic, we got old guys who have a hard time figuring out the priorities of a normal life. Yes, our heroes have become older, but wisdom is clearly not about them. They, like the franchise as a whole, seem to be stuck in the past.

But these unexpected transformations give rise to a couple of very funny scenes.

But most unexpectedly, the word “family” is used so often in this film “Bad Boys to the End” that you begin to suspect that Mike Lowry and Marcus Burnett will soon try to outdo Dominic Toretto from “Fast and the Furious.” We got to see Willa Smith’s other girlfriend, but the years have been earning themselves.

As for the rest of the series of familiar things, everything is in place here. The film is full of clichés: cards, corrupt cops, strip clubs, a wedding, an abandoned park with alligators – after all, this is Florida, at the end of the finale. Cameos and returns from old characters like Fletcher (John Salley) and new ones like Tiffany Haddish in stripper videos, including a touch of nostalgia.

Action at the level of “Fast and the Furious”, it’s neither good nor bad

But it’s truly strange to see how crazy it all is, more akin to The Fast and the Furious than your typical buddy cop action movie. The action in the film is varied and interesting, but sometimes it feels silly and over the top.

Neon Ferris wheels, crazy stupid helicopter sceneA giant park with alligators, a plane flying through the house – this whole world of men’s fantasies about modern action films is here in full view.

But still, some scenes include sharpness and immersion of the viewer in the action, scenes of first-person shootouts, as if taken out of a computer game. On the Internet you can already find behind-the-scenes videos of how Will Smith lugged around his equipment for action scenes.

Humor for what is almost not a shame

The film’s jokes improved over the previous installment, but still often remained corny and profitable. Lawrence’s comic talent still shines through, his antics on point and his interactions with Smith keeping things lively and keeping the film vibrant. However, vulgar humor is also present here, which, unfortunately, does not add charm to the film. Bugs The last parts are fixed, but not all.

However, there are several truly funny moments in the film that will make you not only smile, but laugh out loud. However, they may not appeal to audiences expecting something more intelligent from the film. Looking for deeper meaning here? Why did you even come to this session?

Conclusion: a good summer action movie

Ultimately, Bad Boys Until the End achieves its goal of entertaining the viewer. A lightly enjoyable film “Full of nostalgia and familiar elements” that longtime fans will enjoy.

The action scenes and the chemistry between the main characters still hold attention, but this is not enough to create a truly memorable film. The summer action movie box office season is underway, but this movie isn’t likely to be something people talk about years from now. Therefore, we simply count the box office receipts and hope that the next part brings something new and original. Unlikely, of course.
