Chairman Mark Liu acknowledged the existence of competitors but noted that TSMC’s concerns were not specifically about Huawei. He assured shareholders that TSMC was wary of competition but confident in its “dominance” in the market. TSMC Chairman Wei Zhejia echoed this sentiment, saying it was “impossible” for Huawei to match TSMC’s advanced chip manufacturing technology.
This confidence stems from TSMC’s leadership in the semiconductor industry, which plans to start 2nm chip production next year. In comparison, Huawei is currently working with 7nm processors and is said to be developing a 5nm SoC. US government restrictions significantly limit Huawei’s access to advanced chip manufacturing equipment.
