In one of the discussions during SPIEF, we talked about the topic of personnel and where talent is going now and in what areas of business. According to Maxim Oreshkin, a feature of the 90s and early 2000s was the fact that many studied economists in the hope of later getting a prestigious job.
“And as a result, in the country’s long strategic horizon, some directions sink when too many people go to one place… and too many people get lost along the way. And other areas, on the contrary, are sinking,” he says, adding that this generates shortages in prestigious areas.
Today, it is necessary to find the right balance in the professions that young people choose. He is confident that the peak of support for IT specialists in Russia has already passed and the recently created conditions will disappear. But engineers, specialties that are on the rise, can be supported more. Oreshkin also added that in the near future the megagrant program and assistance to young scientists will significantly increase.
We previously wrote that the income tax for IT companies, which is currently zero, will increase to 5% from 2025. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
