A study by the National Research Group showed which titles were particularly anticipated. Analysts surveyed 1,000 actors and 500 non-actors to find out which adaptations audiences want to see.
At the top of the list were Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, Call of Duty, Mass Effect and Final Fantasy. These games have already become a cultural phenomenon and gained a huge audience, so it is no surprise that their film adaptations are so eagerly awaited.
Interestingly, 65% of survey respondents think movie adaptations are an excellent way to introduce their loved ones to the world of gaming.
For 72% of them, such films and series become a reason to return to their favorite games, highlighting the importance of establishing an emotional connection with these productions.
Participants also noted that video game adaptations should be made by fans of the original games. They believe that love for the source material should be one of the main criteria when choosing a director, as 59% of actors are upset that adaptations do not pay due respect to the source material.
