After WWDC, protesters from the Heat Initiative gathered near Apple Park to demand that the company return to iOS the frequency of photo scanning to detect frames containing scenes of child abuse (CSAM).
About 30 people came out to the rally. “We must develop a future without the army,” the Heat Initiative wrote in X.
Apple announced automatic search for prohibited photos on iOS in mid-2021. The company immediately faced criticism from regular users and security experts and announced in December 2022 that it would not add the feature to iOS.
