The development, supported by the US Department of Defense, uses innovative electrochemical energy conversion.
The new nuclear battery is capable of producing tens of milliwatts of energy for more than 100 years. Unlike other radioisotope methods with efficiency below 10%, the Infinity Power battery is significantly more efficient and requires less radioisotope to produce the same amount of energy.
The technology is also scalable, allowing energy production from nanowatts to kilowatts.
This creates opportunities for applications in a variety of specialized fields, such as medical implants, power systems for deep sea and space exploration, and applications in remote areas.
Jae Kwon, the company’s CEO, stated that this discovery marks a new stage in the history of nuclear energy storage solutions.
