Now, when importing a car for personal use, the recycling fee is paid at a preferential rate: for new cars – 3.4 thousand rubles, more than three years old – 5.2 thousand rubles.
According to the amendments, if the car is sold within a year, the new owner will have to pay a higher commercial salvage fee: from 300 thousand rubles to 1.3 million rubles; otherwise, the State Traffic Inspectorate will refuse to register the car.
According to experts, the new rules should put an end to the widespread practice of importing a car ostensibly for personal use, paying a recycling fee at a preferential rate and then selling it.
