The developed material has maximum porosity and high durability, allowing it to pass through urban runoff and sediments, purifying water from hazardous chemical elements such as zinc, arsenic, heavy metals and ammonia. Concrete traps these substances within itself and prevents them from mixing with the soil and air.
Tests showed that a five-centimeter layer of new concrete is sufficient for pedestrian areas, and a ten-centimeter layer can withstand a passenger car or Kamaz truck without a load. Butakova noted that production waste is used to make the material, making it not only environmentally friendly but also economically profitable.
