The processor module is one of the varieties of single board computers that is integrated. Outwardly, this is a small module in which the main elements are located: processor, graphics, network and other controllers.
Processor modules are off-the-shelf standardized products in a compact form factor that already contain a processor, memory, input/output ports, a set of peripheral interfaces, display, and multimedia interfaces. ATB Electronics designs processor modules in all major form factors: SMARC, Qseven, SODIMM, Com Express. Modules of the same standard are interchangeable, thus solving the problem of variability in computing power, architecture, and processor manufacturer.
The COM Express SOMs (system on module), due to their size, have the maximum computing power, the SMARC and Qseven SOMs have average computing power and a rich set of interfaces, and the SODIMM format SOMs, due to Due to their small size, they are generally used for low-performance, energy-efficient computing systems.
SOM can be used in transportation, in information security systems and in telecommunications, in multimedia systems, in industrial automation systems, in energy, in medical equipment such as tomographs and X-ray machines, in data transmission systems, terminals banking. Most often, these modules are used in instrumentation, when a compact computing device is required. They can also be used in IoT systems at the level of gateways and border controllers.
The first processor module developed and manufactured by ATB Electronics is a SMARC format module based on an Intel Atom processor.
